This strand runs in parallel across the whole year and is the defining feature of a foundation programme: it converts a capable science student into a university-ready one. Modelled on the NCUK EAP module and the academic-skills provision shared across Kaplan and university IFPs, it develops academic writing, critical reading, referencing and academic integrity, data communication, and seminar and presentation skills, and it directly scaffolds the assessed scientific report. The four language skills (reading, writing, listening, speaking) are developed and assessed through authentic academic tasks.
